DZMM should issue a formal apology to Cebu Pacific for wrong airliner crash report

DZMM announced an airliner plane crash involving Cebu Pacific on a Manila to General Santos City flight. The commercial plane was supposed to have crashed in Barangay Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat Province in Mindanao Island. Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Deputy Director General Rodante Joya was subsequently interviewed on live radio and he stated that all commercial flight airliners were properly accounted for. The possibility of a private civilian aircraft having crashed was not ruled out.

The problem with the DZMM announcement was that a commercial airline firm was named, Cebu Pacific, and a scheduled route was also provided, Manila to General Santos.

Cebu Pacific airliner reported to have crashed in Sultan Kudarat. However, a CAAP official has denied a commercial airline crash at this time. Cebu Pacific has also denied the crash report.

A probable crash site was also identified down to the barangay being Esperanza in the province of Sultan Kudarat. With so much specific information given, how could so many details be ALL WRONG (assuming no commercial airliner actually crashed). In other words, where did the story begin, emanate or come from. The public is entitled to know the source of the story mainly because, obviously, someone erred in coming out with BREAKING NEWS that suddenly went bust. Of course, we are all relieved that no commercial airliner crash took place but we are also terrorized at the ability of a FALSE STORY to be circulated without pertinent facts being checked out and confirmed. On the part of Cebu Pacific, there was actual and moral damage done to its corporate name, reputation and standing in the airline industry. Without prejudice to whatever legal action Cebu Pacific can or will take against DZMM, a FORMAL APOLOGY from DZMM/ABS-CBN is in order.

  1. yes, kelangan nila mag apologize. yung panic na ginawa nila. masyado kasi pabida. pagkatapos maglabas ng false info, wala na, next issue na? yan ang problema sa media, nirereport kahit di naman sigurado.
